- The Fix
With a show title that writes its own review, this production leaps fearlessly from glitzy burlesque to more edgy performance art, while visiting more traditional circus fare along the way. There is none of the promised trapeze-flying, but there is a hula hoop routine that doesn’t fail to entertain. Lavish both in costume and theatrical effects, we are delivered the promised visual feast.
Apart from a few songs sung live in the cabaret tradition, dance routines are performed to backing music that ranges from an obvious Divinyls choice, some sublime Radiohead, all the way back down to Bonnie Tyler. This show is too far down the disco end of the food chain for my tastes. But it is clearly apparent that many in the near capacity audience are enjoying it immensely.
Protective gear is required for people in the front seats to avoid becoming drenched. It’s certainly a wild ride!
Glory Box – Seductive Spectacle, Live Art Erotica, Wild Child Circus, Jaw-Dropping Cabaret! continues at The Garden Of Unearthly Delights – Paradiso Spiegeltent until Thu Mar 13.
