Lisa Mitchell is $30,000 dollars richer today as a group of panelists decided that her album Wonder was the best over the past year, thus earning her the 2010 Australian Music Prize.
Beating the likes of Oh Mercy, Kid Sam, Black Cab and Bertie Blackman to name but a few of the other nominees, Lisa Mitchell has become the fifth recipient of the prestigious award. She joins the exclusive club featuring Augie March, The Mess Hall, The Drones and Eddy Current Suppression Ring as previous winners.
For winning the award, Lisa will receive a $30,000 cash prize and a bucket of street cred (like she needs it).
Lisa Mitchell plays HQ on Thu May 20.
