If you’re hungry for another Radiohead fix you’re in luck, as the UK alt-rockers have put forth two previously unreleased tracks onto the internet called The Daily Mail and Staircase.
The two tracks were recorded during studio sessions for their latest album The King Of Limbs but didn’t end up making the final cut. The songs were brought to the surface for the first time, however, when the band played them during the live The King Of Limbs: From The Basement performance. The in-studio set will be released as a DVD through iTunes on Jan 31.
The Daily Mail exposes a heavier side to the band, the track starting off as an anguished piano ballad and progressively building up into a scratchy, forceful chorus.
Staircase however opts for something more synthy, teaming flickering 90s electronica and loose arrangements. In true Radiohead style, even their B-Sides make for a great listen.
Here’s hoping we catch these tunes live this year. The band will be heading out on their first US tour dates next month starting Feb 27 2012, so fingers crossed they make it across the hemisphere for some Australian shows.
