Rundle Mall will feel less musical from Fri Oct 14, as The Muses Rundle Mall will shut its doors for the final time after 43 years of trade on the city shopping strip.
Closing its doors due to digital trends, diminishing sales and the impact of low-margin mass merchants, The Muses will shift its focus online at themuses.com.au to keep its specialist music retail service alive via the internet. The Muses established in 1968 and at its peak had six stores throughout South Australia. Founded by Peter Raphael, it was family owned and operated until Leading Edge Music bought it in 2005. Currently located in the basement of Renaissance Building (after previously being located at Regent Arcade and Charles St) the music, film and merchandise store will hold a closing down sale during September and the first two weeks of October.
Fri Oct 14 will be a sad day for music lovers who could always rely on The Muses to find something special on their stroll through the mall. Make sure you say goodbye to The Muses in style by heading to the store to grab a bargain during its final weeks of trade on Rundle Mall.
