Soundwave: MCR out, JEW in

My Chemical Romance fans will be saddened by the news that the band have had to pull out of the upcoming Soundwave tour due to singer Gerard Way suffering from severe vocal problem. But in their stead comes a highly sought after replacement.

Jimmy Eat World are a band who need no introduction. Many Soundwave fans have longed for the American alt rock group on the bill and in the unfortunate events surrounding My Chemical Romance, their dreams will come true in 2010. Taking a break from recording their sixth studio album, Jimmy Eat World will fly into Australia later this month to team up with the likes of Faith No More, Jane's Addiction and Placebo on theepic 2010 Soundwave bill.

Meanwhile, Gerard Way had the following statement for disappointed My Chemical Romance fans:

“We are really sorry that we’ve had to cancel this tour, and apologise for any inconvenience it has caused. The last thing we ever want to do is cancel shows, but we’ll be back to Australia to make it up to the fans as soon as possible.”

The Soundwave Festival takes place at Bonython Park on Sat Feb 27
