After supporting Foals and The Strokes on their recent Australian jaunts, London-based Melbournians Gypsy & the Cat will be hitting the road for their very first Australian headline tour in conjunction with their Parklife appearances later this month.
Gypsy & The Cat have been possibly the biggest surprise packet in Australian music this year. Virtually unknown a few months ago, they were signed to Sony RCA in the UK after they were "discovered" on MySpace. Their very first shows in Australia were in support of two of the biggest indie bands in the world and following this they played the main stage at Splendour in the Grass and will be gracing the Parklife festivals around the country in a few weeks time.
The electronically-inspired two-piece of Xavier Bacash and Lionel Towers have written, recorded and produced their debut album Gilgamesh and are currently mixing it with some industry heavyweights. Their first headline shows in this country will attract a lot of attention so make sure you're not one of the unlucky few who miss out.
Gypsy & The Cat play at Jive on Sun Oct 3 and Parklife in Botanic Park on Mon Oct 4. Gilgamesh is due for release this summer.
