Two of the Sydney's most promising young bands are joining forces for a co-headline tour next month. Art rock collective Parades and emotive love child of Bon Iver and Devendra Banhart, Ernest Ellis, will be touring together throughout October, heading to Adelaide at the end of the month.
Two bands, so much promise. If you're late to the party, let me bring you up to speed. First of all Parades. The genre-bending, multi-membered collective exploded onto the scene this year with their debut album Foreign Tapes. Full of spine-tingling melodies and explosive percussion courtest of one Jonathan Boulet, Parades' debut has put so many of their contemporaries to shame with the apparent ease in which they craft the art of music. They toured here earlier in the year to mostly rave reviews.
Ernest Ellis on the other hand has had an equally impressive start to his fledgling career. 2010 has been a landmark year for the man, who put out his debut album Hunting, scored the supporting role for Florence & The Machine on their East Coast dates and formed his full band with which he now tours. Hunting is a chilly ride through Ellis' inner demons, traversing emotional peaks and troughs as you go along.
Although this is the first time the two bands will have played together, we've got a feeling they might be employing the same person to do their cover artwork. Just have a look at the covers for Ernest Ellis' new single Want For Anything and Parades' album Foreign Tapes:
