Anglo-Spanish cabaret star Ursula Martinez has been announced as the opening act for the upcoming Feast Festival, performing the Australian premiere of her stand-up comedy/spoken word show My Stories Your Emails.
It's only a few months until Adelaide's gay and lesbian culture festival Feast is upon us, so it's high time we told about what's instore for 2010. The theme for this year's event is 'Our Place', a notion designed to raise questions about a sense of belonging both within in the gay and lesbian community and the wider modern-day society.
And for the very first time this year, Feast will be hosting a unique performance and entertainment hub in Light Square as a focal point for all the vibrant activity going on during the festival. We suppose it'll be kind of like The Garden of Unearthly Delights, only maybe with slightly fewer drag queens.
And yes, Ms Ursula Martinez has been confirmed as the festival's opening act with her show My Stories Your Emails. The show centres around her recent rise to fame after an unsolicited film of her strip-tease show surfaced on the internet. Martinez explores themes such as identity, fame and the ever-changing nature of the internet through stand-up comedy and character performances. It's already been heralded a hit in the UK and now Martinez is bringing the scandal down under.
Feast 2010 takes place from Sat Nov 13 - Sun Nov 28. My Stories Your Emails is showing from Thu Nov 11 - Sat Nov 13 at the Space Theatre in the Adelaide Festival Centre. Tickets through Bass.
