How many times have you been happily cruising along Morphett Street only to be rudely affronted by the Night Train eyesore? Well Higher Ground Inc and Community Arts Network are putting an end to that, by undertaking a mural art project to replace the old, redundant billboard.
Supervised by local artists Bob Daly and Kalyna Micenko, the West End Mural Project will revitalise arts in the city by creating a new visual focal point for the people. Working wth community groups CAN and Common Ground, and assisted by ArtsSA and the Adelaide City Council, HGI is inviting anyone willing to give up their time to help with the project.
Work is currently underway on painting 20 large canvasses which will be transposed onto the massive art space in Light Square. The finished work will be unveiled as part of the SALA Festival on Sat Aug 7.
