After conquering new horizons in support of MGMT on their North American tour, Perth psych-rockers Tame Impala have returned home to release a new single from their mind-blowing debut album InnerSpeaker and announce a spring tour of Australia.
With the seed of InnerSpeaker well and truly planted in the minds of Australia's cutting edge music community, Tame Impala's forthcoming tour will surely propel them to all new heights of indie stardom. Their last visit to Adelaide saw them blow away a packed Governor Hindmarsh back in May, attracting this sort of praise from us here at Rip It Up:
"Everything about their set exudes professionalism and self-assuredness in their art. The arrangements are tight, the band members play as a well-rehearsed, single-minded unit. The songs, now laden with countless effects and filters, exhibit a maturity and depth well beyond the years of chief songwriter Kevin Parker. Even the krautish psychedelic sojourns seem more relevant and meaningful, and actually go somewhere rather than drift off on a sonic acid trip."
It truly was one of the better live sets of 2010 and with a spacier room to fill out this time around, the Perth boys will need to take it up a notch. But we're pretty sure they're capable.
