The incredible sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the OzAsia Festival will be back in 2010, as the festival program was unveiled at The Adelaide Festival Theatre last night. Incorporating a mixed bag of music, theatre, arts, food, film and exhibitions, OzAsia 2010 will no doubt astonish festival goers with its celebration of Asian-Australian culture.
Australia's future is intrinsically linked with Asia. No longer are we the island nation separate from our neighbours, we are part of a geographic region and the wider Asian community. The OzAsia Festival aims to highlight this with a melting pot of different cultures and flavours that are continually being brought to our very doorstep.
With 58 events crammed into its two-week schedule, OzAsia will surely have something in store for everyone's tastes. The Yohangza Theatre Company, who performed a Korean adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream back in 2007, are back again, this time taking on The Bard's epic story Hamlet. Malaysian drumming group Hands Percussion (pictured) will be headlining the festival with exclusive performances of their show Dialogue In Skin. Or if food's more your flavour, Luke Nguyen, head chef of Sydney's lauded Red Lantern restaurant, will be giving a series of Vietnamese cooking demonstrations for a lucky few punters who put their hands up first.
But there's a plethora of other events on offer, far too many to mention here in this little blog post. For all your OzAsia Festival needs, check out their website www.ozasiafestival.com.au.
