Giving a distinctly red tinge to this summer's Days On the Green Festivals will be none other than pop legends Simply Red. Joining Blondie and The Pretenders on an already star-studded line-up this summer, Simply Red will bid farewell to their Australian audiences on their fianl world tour later this year.
Simply Red's appearance at the very first A Day On The Green festival for the summer comes some six before the scheduled season opener. However, the chance to nab one of the most recognisable faces in contemporary pop on his last world tour proved too sweet an apple to resist for the organisers.
"I could never have imagined my career would bring me so far," Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall said. "We want to share this closing anniversary with all the people who have enjoyed our sound over the years. Celebrate it and gently move on to the second half of a musical story."
Joining Simply Red at the Day On The Green season opener will be two very special guests in Australia's soul diva extraordinnaire Marcia Hines and one of Australian blues all-time greats Joe Camilleri and his Black Sorrows band.
Don't miss this special occasion to send off this legendary figure in pop music.
The first 'A Day On The Green' concert , featuring Simply Red, Marcia Hines and Joe Camilleri's Black Sorrows, takes place at Leaconfield Wines, McLaren Vale on Sun Oct 10. Tickets on sale Mon Jul 12 through Ticketmaster.
